Bonjour Uniquifiers and welcome back to my blog! ♥
YOLO. Yeah, we all know that slightly cringy term that you see on people’s T-Shirts, the one that stands for (if you didn’t already know): You Only Live Once. But, seriously, apart from adding a new slang word to our terminology in the 2000’s, there must have been a purpose as to why it was made. So, in today’s post, I’ll be talking about just that… Yes, I’m sorry, we’ve got another ‘Typical UniquelyMe Inspirational Post That Might Not Actually Be That Inspirational But She Doesn’t Have Anything Else To Post So She Goes With The Flow’ post. Deal with it. 💁♀️ Anyways, lez go!
Yesterday, as the whole world knows and thanks the heavens for, was Friday. The night where we can finally relax after a long week of stressing about our work, and we can finally get under the blankets with a bowl of popcorn to binge-watch Netflix, YouTube, or, in my case, The Flash. I don’t know about you, but I LOVE that feeling when you take that deep breath, turn on the TV, and settle in for a long, relaxing night without anyone disturbing you. Or, if you’re not a complete introvert, unlike me, you’ll be getting ready for that party, or that sleepover, or that event that you’ve been thinking about all day.
Yesterday, I went to a concert with my family friends, and, I have to say… Damn. I never thought I’d have that much fun with other people like that before. We knew all the songs and were cheering and clapping along – at one point, everyone got up and started dancing in the corner. It was mad. We were all singing bare loud, with me not even caring how bad I sounded (And, yes, I sounded BAD. I just checked the videos we took this morning.).
Normally, I never get involved in this, but I thought, ‘Hang on. Why not? Why not try something different for a change? Hey, YOLO so grab the opportunity while you can, innit?’ That and I was going whether I wanted to or not, but you know… 😂
Afterwards, we walked straight from the concert venue to a nearby restaurant, and talked for ages! Plus the fact that my favourite music was playing in the background. It was the perfect evening, and I wouldn’t give that experience away for even a million pounds, or whatever. We drove home blasting out music, and eventually reached home at 2AM. Yeah, 2AM.
Yesterday night, waving my arms in the air and losing myself in the music with everyone I cared about around me, well, that’s something you can’t buy. And you only get those moments rarely, so missing opportunities like that and then regretting it afterwards when looking through the your friends’ Snapchat stories is pointless. If someone invites you, take it as an honor. Tell the introverted side of your brain to SHUT UP and just get out there.
Live in the moment, and throw all your negative thoughts away. Just think, are you 100% sure you’ll get a chance like this again? Yeah, yeah, I know it’s unlikely you’re gonna get abducted by a bunch of aliens and then killed, but still. You might as well just live hard and die young, right?
Now, I want you guys to take a deep breath, close your eyes, and count off all the things you’re grateful for. I want you to really *feel* your surroundings… Listen to every sound, take a deep breath and then out again. And… I’m gonna stop there, actually. I sound like a bad yoga class teacher. 😂🤦♀️ But hey, if you do this often, especially if you’re out for a walk or something, you’ll begin to see how beautiful life really is. I mean, why dwell on the negatives when there are so many more positives?
No matter where you are in the world, no matter what you’re doing, just live every moment to the fullest. And yes, I know I’ve said this way too many times in my previous posts, but way too many times is not enough times to properly exaggerate exactly how important living is. I mean, imagine. The odds of you being a random poor kid in Africa are HUGE. Look at this:
385 frickin’ million! And yet here we are, with the world’s expenses at our feet. Food ready for us when we get home, an education so that we can get a job, a family, a roof over our heads, clothes… Netflix! I’m pretty sure I’ve not been grateful enough for my life – seriously. How many times have you guys sat down and thought about everything you have in your life? Your friends, your family?
So, that’s why, instead of taking our lives for granted, we should live every moment to the fullest, work hard, have fun, instead of letting it waste away whilst we watch an entire two seasons of Riverdale in one day. Yeah, it’s good to treat ourselves and that, but you gotta get out there and enjoy yourself with living people, still, instead of a 64′ inch TV screen. The point is, simply, live. Live hard, and live uniquely. Live YOU.
Have an amazing day, and Stay UniquelyYou! ♥
